There are two ways to do it. AC coupling adds a battery with its own inverter alongside your existing setup, which suits systems with a healthy inverter and avoids touching what already works. Replacing the inverter with a hybrid unit is tidier and often better if the original inverter is near the end of its life, since most only last around ten to fifteen years.
